Everyday, the fire brigade is called out to over 140 fires at homes across the UK - that is more than 50,000 every year* These fires range from small kitchen fires to homes being completely destroyed. Around 500 people are killed and over 10,000 injured each year.

Of all house fires reported in 2000, only 44% had some form of detection device, such as a smoke alarm.

In Europe, losses from fires protected by sprinklers are estimated at 10% of those without srinkler systems.

The uninsured losses from fire in the UK amount to £7 billion.
